Installation questions
Still unsure what you need? Call us and we will talk you through the options.
How much does it cost to install air conditioning?
It depends on the type of system, the size of each room and how far the pipework has to run between the indoor and outdoor units. A single wall-mounted unit in a bedroom is at the simpler end, while multi-room and commercial systems need more design work. We give you a fixed, written quote after a survey so you know exactly what you are paying.
How long does an installation take?
Most single-room installations are done in a day. Multi-room homes and commercial systems usually take two to five days, depending on the number of units, the pipe runs and the electrical work.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning at home?
Usually not for a standard split system. Listed buildings, conservation areas and outdoor units on a visible front elevation can need approval, so check with your local planning authority if any of those apply. We can advise on where the outdoor unit can go.
What size of unit do I need?
It depends on the room size, insulation, windows, how many people use the space and any heat from equipment. As a rough guide a small bedroom might suit a 2.5kW unit and a large living room 5kW or more, but we calculate it properly for each room before recommending anything.
Can I fit air conditioning myself?
Not safely. Handling refrigerant legally requires F-Gas certification, and a DIY install can void the manufacturer's warranty. A certified installer makes sure the system is set up correctly, runs efficiently and meets UK regulations.
